Julie Fourcade is Head of External Affairs and Internal Communications at FCC Environment and has been with the business for over 10 years. She initially joined to lead external communications and government relations and now oversees all communications activity across the organisation, including corporate content, digital channels and internal communications.
Her tenure has spanned a period of significant policy change for the sector, including the introduction of Simpler Recycling, developments around the Emissions Trading Scheme and ongoing challenges such as waste crime and fires, alongside the broader impact of global economic and geopolitical pressures. Internally, she is responsible for engaging FCC Environment’s workforce of more than 4,500 colleagues, ensuring clear, inclusive and effective communication across a diverse operational business.
Julie is focused on strengthening the company’s external profile commensurate with the businesses’ even growing portfolio of clients and business interests while carefully managing reputation; and on building a strong sense of belonging and engagement internally through clear and consistent communication.
Prior to joining FCC Environment, Julie held senior advisory communications roles at Biffa, Viridor and before that at WRAP, where, as Head of Communications she worked on major national campaigns including the launch of Recycle Now and the Real Nappy Campaign as well as the early stages of Love Food Hate Waste alongside supporting the vital market development and local authority and engagement programmes.
