Lee has spent over 30 years in waste management after graduating with an Environmental Technology degree. He has a long career in local government, having worked for three English councils and one Welsh unitary authority. In addition, Lee has worked in the private sector with a large waste company and a multi-national waste consultancy.

He was Chair of LARAC for 4 years and was involved with the organisation for well over 10 years before becoming its Chief Executive Officer. He sat on the WEEE Advisory Board and the Advisory Committee on Packaging, and was an advisor to the Welsh Local Government Association.

He is currently the CEO of Cast Metals Federation , has a Masters degree in Public Administration and is a Fellow of the CIWM.
